Privacy policy

Who we are. The Teachers of Home Economics Specialist Association (THESA) is a Provincial Specialist Association of the BC Teachers' Federation. This policy covers our conference registration website.

What we collect

From delegates: name, pronouns, email address, phone number, school and district, role, whether you attend in person or online, and your session choices. Optionally, dietary, medical or allergy information and accessibility or mobility needs. We also collect the name and phone number of an emergency contact.

From session leaders: contact details, mailing address, GST number where applicable, a biography and a photograph.

Why we collect it

To process your registration and payment, plan and run the conference, meet your access and dietary needs, contact you about the event, and respond appropriately in an emergency on site. Session leader biographies, photographs and session details are published on this website and in conference materials. Contact details, mailing addresses and GST numbers are never published.

Consent

We collect this information with your consent, given when you submit the registration form. You may withdraw consent by contacting us, though we may then be unable to complete your registration.

Who can see it

Only conference organizers. We do not sell your information, and we do not disclose it to third parties except to service providers acting on our behalf, or where required by law.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own secure page — they never reach our systems, and we never store them.

Where your information is stored

On Amazon Web Services infrastructure located in Canada.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask a question about this policy. We will respond within 30 days, as required by British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act.

Security

We use encrypted connections, restrict access to conference organizers, and take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss and unauthorised access.
